Codes of Conduct & Sportsmanship

Little Miami Youth Basketball Association (LMYBA) believes basketball is about more than wins and losses. Our program is built on teamwork, respect, sportsmanship, accountability, and creating a positive experience for every player, coach, referee, volunteer, and family member involved in our organization.

As a member organization within the Cincinnati Premier Youth Basketball League (CPYBL), LMYBA strictly follows and enforces the league’s official Codes of Conduct for players, coaches, parents, and spectators. Participation in our program means understanding and adhering to these expectations at all practices, games, tournaments, and basketball-related events.

The complete CPYBL Codes of Conduct can be viewed here:

Our Commitment to a Positive Basketball Experience

LMYBA is committed to providing an environment where our young Panther athletes learn, compete, grow, and enjoy the game of basketball. We expect every participant and spectator to contribute to a culture that promotes:

  • Respect for teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, and volunteers
  • Positive sportsmanship and encouragement
  • Fair play and integrity
  • Accountability and self-control
  • Safe and supportive environments for all athletes
  • Development of character both on and off the court

Expectations for Players

Players are expected to represent LMYBA with integrity, effort, and sportsmanship at all times. This includes:

  • Showing respect toward coaches, teammates, officials, opponents, and spectators
  • Demonstrating good sportsmanship regardless of the outcome of a game
  • Maintaining a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Following team rules, league rules, and coach instruction
  • Avoiding unsportsmanlike behavior, bullying, profanity, or disruptive conduct

Expectations for Parents & Spectators

Parents and families are a critical part of the LMYBA experience. We encourage positive support from the sidelines and ask all spectators to help create an environment where players can compete confidently and enjoy the game. Parents and spectators are expected to:

  • Encourage all players in a positive and respectful manner
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship toward officials, coaches, players, and other spectators
  • Allow coaches to coach and officials to officiate
  • Refrain from negative comments, abusive language, or confrontational behavior
  • Support league and organizational decisions regarding conduct and sportsmanship

Unsportsmanlike behavior from spectators can negatively impact the experience for players and officials and will not be tolerated.

Expectations for Coaches

LMYBA coaches are leaders, mentors, and role models for our athletes. Coaches are expected to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship, professionalism, and player development. This includes:

  • Teaching the game in a positive and constructive manner
  • Modeling respectful behavior at all times
  • Encouraging teamwork, effort, and player growth
  • Promoting safe and inclusive participation
  • Following all league rules and conduct expectations

Accountability & Enforcement

LMYBA and CPYBL take conduct expectations seriously. Violations of league or organizational Codes of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including warnings, removal from games or facilities, suspension, or additional consequences determined by the league or organization.

By participating in LMYBA programs, all players, coaches, parents, and spectators acknowledge and agree to follow the standards established by CPYBL and LMYBA.

Thank you for helping us maintain a positive, respectful, and supportive basketball community for all LMYBA families.
