Coaches Corner

Youth coaches are vital to the success of youth programs and in the development of our players in the game of basketball and more importantly in the game of life. LMYB coaches teach sportsmanship, teamwork, respect and to always have a positive attitude. Coaches are to use practices to develop individual skills while teaching team concepts. Winning is not always the main objective, but making all-star memories should be. Players will probably not remember the win and losses, but will remember if they enjoyed themselves.

Both parents and non-parents are encouraged to apply for coaching positions. Thank you to all the coaches who volunteer their time to the LMYB basketball program!

Coaching Requirements:

• Complete Coaches Application
• Approved by LMYB Board
• Pass Background Check
• Complete Concussion Education Course
• Follow the Code of Conduct & Rules
• Have a Philosophy that this is for the kids

Coaching Recommendations:

• Have simple planned out practices
• Keep players involved
• Communicate with parents
• Know the rules of the game
• Ask if you have any questions
• Use resources available
• Stay in touch via the website
• Enjoy this time of your life with your kid
